While I have shot a might further, ringing steel consistently out past the big 1k has been… well, less consistent. About the time I began pushing past 1,000 yards, I spent quality trigger time (and study time) with several 6.5 Creedmoor (6.5 CM) systems and was truly impressed with the cartridge’s flatter trajectory and longer reach.

Nov 17, 2020 · Trajectory comparision between Hornady’s 6.5 Creedmoor 147 gr ELD Match and 6.5 PRC 147 gr ELD Match. Both have identical bullets, with an identical .697 ballistic coefficent. Yet, thanks to a greater velocity, the 6.5 PRC outperforms the Creedmoor downrange. It doesn’t take a Camp Perry shooter to realize this is a boon to precision shooters.

Dec 27, 2018 · 6.5 PRC vs 6.5 Creedmoor. As an aside, a quick comparison between the 6.5 PRC and the 6.5 Creedmoor—today’s single most popular centerfire cartridge—is called for. In simplest terms, the 6.5 PRC shoots faster, flatter, farther, and with more energy. However, it recoils more, has less barrel life, and ammo is more expensive.
And, if you range a deer to be at 250 yards (which is a shot at a trophy buck most of us would take in a heartbeat with a .308), and he's actually at 300 yards, you won't even touch a hair, even if you've got your aim solidly placed for the 250-yard distance, because traveling that additional 50 yards from 250 to 300, the bullet is going to drop yet another six and a quarter inches.
The new sniper bullet offers greater range than existing rounds, while the new machine gun round will be the foundation of a new, better weapon. At 1,000 yards, a 6.5 Creedmoor round requires less correction for bullet drop (gravity) and for wind than the 7.62 round. This reduces the margin for error...
